19 January 2025 - Training Band Update

Lydbrook Training Band continues at great pace with 2024 being another successful year. Eight concerts were performed in and around the community. The band also competed in the GBBA Contest in November where the adjudicator, Brett Baker, enjoyed the band’s performance and gave them a Gold Award.

The band also won the award for the most players under 14 and Agnes (aged 8) won the award for the youngest player in the section for the third year is succession. The band also won the prize for the best section, with the tenor horns proudly walking away with the trophy.

Players come and go of course, and in September we lost three of our players to University; Sophie to Durham, Abby to Nottingham and Phoebe to Cardiff Met. But new members joining included James, Liv, Andy and Kate. We need a Kit percussionist if you know anyone who might be interested.

The engagement calendar is quickly filling up for 2025 but if you would like to book the band for a fund-raising event, please call Robert Morgan on 01594 860944/07796 442463.

We have also recently started a beginner’s group on a Monday evening for players of any age. It takes place in the band room from 5.45pm to 6.15pm and is free of charge. If you’re interested, please contact Tracey Gwynne on 07737 131273 for further information.

We all look forward to seeing you during the summer months in and around the community.
